mental health care is required when helping my patients feel their best. As a woman, mother, daughter, and working professional, I understand the complex juggling act that goes on in our lives. I believe that feeling our emotional best as individuals has to involve understanding and embracing all the roles in our lives, in all the different stages that we go through.
Professionally, I have held a variety of roles, in addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice. I was the Chief of Psychiatry of a large psychiatric department, and then also became an executive leader as Chair and Director for the entire Northern California region, leading the strategic operations of the mental health delivery system for a large health organization, serving over 4 million members.
It was during this time that I became passionate about how to offer mental health care tailored specifically to the unique challenges that women need support with – feeling their emotional best through times of conception, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and menstrual cycle issues. I also realized that women would benefit from mental health care that specifically addressed their unique needs, as many of these challenges weren’t being met by traditional mental health offerings. That’s why I felt compelled to create Moon Mental Health.
I attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine and completed my adult psychiatry residency at Harvard Medical School at the Mass General Hospital/McLean program. I have also completed additional training in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.
In my spare time, I love to take long walks and cheer on my daughters playing squash. I admit to an occasional K-drama bingeing session!
