Frequently Asked Questions

We treat everyone.  Our clinicians have many years of experience of working with all people, non-binary, trans, and cis-gender.  We also know that partners and spouses need support, too.  We provide care to all who are in need of our specialized services.

Moon offers individual therapy, group therapy, and medication management offerings in the states of CA, MA, PA, and NY.

Simply book an initial consultation here.  During your consultation, we will have a thorough conversation about your medical and psychiatric history, current challenges, and goals of treatment.  Most initial consultations take two sessions.  After the consultation, we will review what your care will look like if we are a good fit to work together.

Moon does not accept insurance.  However, we do offer assistance with providing documentation to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

Payment is due at the time of service and can be made with a credit card.   We do not take insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid, and are considered an “Out of Network” provider. By being “Out of Network”, you do not have to involve 3rd parties into your treatment if you do not wish, and have full control over your confidentiality and care.

Because of the virtual nature of our work together, there may be some instances where psychiatric care and therapy offered through Moon may not offer the intensity of services that you need, for example if you need very intensive treatment, have active and serious drug or substance use, have complicated eating disorder conditions, or have active safety risks.  After the first initial appointment, if we mutually agree that we are the right fit to work together, we will move forward with developing an ongoing treatment plan for care.  Rest assured, we will provide you with alternative options for care if we do not work together.

We treat all psychiatric conditions.  Due to federal prescribing laws, we are unable to prescribe controlled substances (medications like benzodiazepines and stimulants).  In certain circumstances we also may be able to coordinate care with a local to you provider such as a primary care doctor to provide these types of medications.

At minimum, a 48-hour written (e-mail) cancellation notice is required via email to your clinician’s individual email. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation occurs fewer than 48 hours before the start of the appointment or if the appointment is missed without notification.
